Since then I've built full-stack web applications for startups and large organisations, earned an MSc in Mathematics, and eventually went freelance, which is a polite way of saying I opted out of the open-plan office.
These days I work as a freelance frontend tech lead, mostly in JavaScript and TypeScript. I build the thing, and I make sure everyone else can build it too: architecture decisions, developer tooling, and a fair amount of translating between engineers and the people who need to understand what the engineers just said.
I like the messy bit. Sometimes that's an early-stage product still taking shape, sometimes it's an established team carrying more chaos than it can hold.
I'm active in Berlin's tech community: organising meetups for freelancers, speaking at events, and the occasional podcast appearance. The thread running through all of it is the human side of tech: careers, community, and finding a calm way of working in the chaotic tech industry.
I read, I speak, I write, I code.
I build web applications in React, TypeScript and Node.js, from first prototype to production. I make the architecture decisions and live with them, and I'm easy to bring into an existing team. Mostly frontend, comfortable across the stack when that's what the job needs.
The part most teams put off. Design systems and component libraries, CI/CD pipelines, technical documentation, tooling. Usually it means taking things away rather than adding them: less friction, fewer detours, and shorter feedback loops for everyone else.
I often get hired to build and end up as the person translating between the engineers and the people who need to understand what the engineers just said. Architecture sparring, code review, mentoring, hiring and technical interviews, and an honest answer about whether you're solving the right problem. No agenda, no jargon, no drama.
I speak at tech conferences and community events about the messy, human reality of building a tech career: the doubt, the pivots, and the things you figure out the hard way. The stuff people are quietly googling at 2am. Want me to speak at your event? Drop me a line.
